Are you tired from work? Are you tired from boring schoolwork or do you have nothing else to do? What are you planning to do this weekend? Nothing? If you want something entertaining to do after work, please come watch the 2015 Dessert Theatre.
The MHS Drama Club is proud to announce new changes this year. For the past couple of years, Dessert Theatre has put on a series of three one-act plays. This particular kind of drama production is actually a booster for the spring musical. This year, the Drama Club has decided to add in songs and a special dance move. Yes, they will still do plays, but, right now, there will be two plays. Do you like songs from the classic TV show of the Adams Family? How about songs from the well-known musical 9-5? Do you also want your friends to go green with envy and your crushes to swoon? Seniors, Emily McIntyre and Rachel Steadman, will direct The Adams Family and 9-5. Student choreographer, Megan Mayfield, will show the dance that all actors will perform on stage. Do you want to laugh and make fun of the worst tragedies in your life? Seniors, Caroline Rainville and Julia Chamberlain, will direct the comedy of Don’t Fear the Reaper. Finally, how about seeing a production of a familiar short story many MHS students have read during their freshman year? Seniors, Evan Dundon and Dom Zagzoug, will direct the Shirley Jackson horror short story classic, The Lottery. After Don’t Fear the Reaper, the audience will get to enjoy desserts. Desserts are a part of intermission. Rehearsals are always held on Thursday nights and follow a very structured schedule. The Adams Family, 9-5 and the dance number run from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Don’t Fear the Reaper rehearsal is from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Lastly, The Lottery rehearsal runs from 8:00-9:00 p.m. Are you excited for more Drama Club? Are you a fan of past musicals such as Once on this Island (2014) and Rodger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (2015)? Be sure to come see the 2016 musical of Legally Blonde.
