Early College High School (ECHS) students in Mrs. Bento & Ms. Verreault's English Composition I classes enjoyed the day at QCC's Worcester campus last Thursday. The day was packed with exciting events! Students had their photographs taken and were given student IDs. A quick tour of the Athletic Center gave students the opportunity to better understand what programs and events are offered. A small group of students interested in early childhood education visited the Children's School. Then it was off to the Alden Library for database training run by Tiger Swan, coordinator of Library Reference & Instruction Services. Students began preliminary research for their upcoming cause & effect research essays and learned the importance of evaluating sources to determine if they are trustworthy sites. Hebert Auditorium was filled with fans of One Book Project author, Nina MacLaughlin, who spoke to audience members about her memoir, Hammer Head and about the rewards and challenges of being a female carpenter in a male dominated profession. MacLaughlin thoughtfully responded to questions after her presentation. By: Karen Bento -- Advisor Comments are closed.
